How to Draw a Crossiant

FoD:R Module 1

In this module, the basic architectural drawing convention is demonstrated through the representation of a Croissant. I explored the concepts of plan, elevation and section, as well as the basic manual and digital techniques which enhances the representations.

The accuracy and consistency of scale throughout the project is one of the most important thing to deal with. When I was working on the axonometric drawing of the Croissant, I realised that the size of drawings must be checked in every step from the start, otherwise it will tend to lose its original scale, making it very annoying when fixing the drawings all over again. This also helps my project to be more delicate and professional.

During the process of representation, Adobe Photoshop, as a flexible digital techniques, helps me a lot when I was arranging the layout of different perspectives of the Croissant. I can easily combine my annotations with drawings, adjusting the transparency to make a guide shape without covering the original drawings, as well as distinguish my annotations from the background using the colour settings.

I love this Croissant which I bought in bakery because of its symmetric shape and its distinct surface, which makes me easier to demonstrate the complexity of this object, including its irregular form and the different textures on its surface.
